August 16 Micro New Moon

On August 16 the Micro New Moon in Leo occurs at its farthest point from Earth called apogee. The
phase is invisible because it lacks light and rises close to the Sun so is lost in the Suns light.

Astrophysicist Graham Jones says, “It’s no coincidence that the New Moon between two Super Full Moons is a Micro Moon. The Moon takes around two weeks to go from perigee to apogee. This is roughly—but not exactly—the same time it takes the Moon to go from Full to New. Overall, the perigee-apogee-perigee cycle lasts around 27.55 days: this is called an anomalistic month. The Full-New-Full Moon cycle is about 29.53 days: the name for this is a synodic month.”

Astrologically New Moon is energy of beginnings and with strong Leo rays creates a personal sense of oneself. Focus is energized greatly by Mars trine Uranus which adds enthusiasm and encouragement to embrace your identity more fully. The two weeks following open you to recognize your strengths and abilities and ideally to finding ways for expressing them.
