The first of four Super Moons in a row is this week that intensifies all things lunar which are first, emotions, feelings, how you’re bonded to others and everything important to you. In Capricorn the lunar peak at 7:36 AM brings a kind of heaviness to the world that’s not exactly welcome due to other celestial factors pulling you toward the need for hope and dreams of a better and certainly easier time ahead. This is partly due to alignment with Pluto and opposition to Mercury creating deep thinking and intensity.
A Supermoon is a new or full Moon that occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit. Super Full Moons look brighter than ordinary full Moons because a Supermoon exceeds the disk size of an average-sized moon by up to 8% and the brightness of an average-sized full Moon by some 16%. It exceeds the disk size of a micro-moon (a year’s most distant and therefore smallest full Moon) up to 14% and the brightness of a micro-moon by some 30%. Contrast these moon distances to the average Moon distance of 238,900 miles / 384,472 km.
