2013 SUMMER SOLSTICE

It's the SUMMER SOLSTICE (and winter for my friends in the southern hemisphere) that is the longest day and shortest night of the year. This happens precisely at 1:04 AM ET when the sun is at zero degrees Cancer making the day infused with powerful energy. It's been celebrated for centuries to revere nature and is a magical vibration to connect with through taking time to commune with the elements in whatever way works best for you. It may be that you sit in your garden, go to the ocean or a wooded area but whatever you do, even simply acknowledging the sky, sun and stars taps into the magnificent power for strength, healing and manifestation. For some this is a religious day to honor the Gods and all nature. There are two solstices a year, summer and winter divided in the middle by two equinoxes that are quarter points of the earth’s coordinates to the sun. As it's the point following the spring equinox it's about life in abundance reaching a peak after the birthing last March when life began again. It’s marks realization of what one has accumulated and the fruition of these last months. You may have gained monetarily or otherwise yet there is always the spiritual journey to recognize and realize. Regardless of what’s happened, easy or difficult there is the spirits refinement as a result of experience. It’s not always clear or simple to decipher though this is a day to ask for answers and to have/receive/manifest peace with it all. There is an answer even if veiled. An affirmation I wrote for today is: “I accept all abundance and what I’ve garnered thus far in my life and I receive divine revelation that brings peace. I honor my experiences that connect me closer to God.” If you say this I hope it gives you a sense of calm and strength. Today is, in a way, a day of rest, a kind of Sunday when ones honors the spirit and taking time to settle.

Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius Ma7 & Uranus-Pluto Angle

We have a lunar eclipse this week in Sagittarius + the Uranus-Pluto angle I've discussed before that's around from 2012-2015 that occurred in the 1930's. I discussed it in the column this week and how to work with it in the bet way. Happy birthday Gemini, the sun enters your sign today. Mercury-Uranus angle is helpful for gaining added insight; for communication - peaks at 11:47PM ET so for some will be happening tomorrow.

MAYDAY MAYDAY!
Some people may be wondering why anybody would yell "May Day" when they are in trouble. Here is why: It derives from the French "m'aidez", means "help me."

May Day is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night. Astrologically and astronomically May Day falls exactly half a year from November 1, (and All Hallow's Eve) another cross-quarter day in the heavens associated with various pagan beliefs. It’s a day of reveling and dancing around the ever popular maypole. The date in the northern hemisphere correlates to springtime as we are now between the spring equinox in March and the summer solstice in June when flowers are blooming and nature renews life once again. Birds have made nests and the cycle of life continues. It’s a great day to celebrate what you have and want to continue. Growth is a key to think about, what you have that’s growing, what you want to grow and visualizing the path toward that fulfillment. And, revel in the joy of it’s manifestation. Happy May
